Who are Volunteers?
Church of the Cove Volunteers are part of our Cove Team -- members of the church who work together to serve our church and others in the community to help build the Kingdom of God.
Historically in scripture, when God wanted to do something amazing, He called for all the people to be involved, not just a select few. If Church of the Cove is going to continually make a difference for the Kingdom of God, then it's going to take all of us being involved. According to the Word of God, when you accepted Christ, the Holy Spirit came to live inside you and equip you to serve God and serve others. Serving as a volunteer helps grow your relationship with God as well as helping the people you serve.
How do I volunteer at Church of the Cove?
Become a member of the church (see the Commit section for Membership information), check out the volunteer teams below, and complete a Volunteer application so we can know a little bit more about you. Fill this one out if you already know which team you want to serve with or use this form if you're not certain yet. What opportunities are available?
Church of the Cove has many areas of ministry that are made up of multiple volunteer teams who serve on Sundays and during the week. Sign up for one of the teams below and someone will contact you about your next step.
Guest Services teams believe that first impressions make a huge impact. These teams are made up of individuals who love creating welcoming environments for every guest at Church of the Cove. These teams include hospitality team, first impression team (greeters), ushers, cleaning and set-up teams.
Are you comfortable leading a bible study or guiding new believers through their next steps? If you are, you might be a good fit for the discipleship team. These volunteers include faciliators and host home providers.
Our Children's Ministry volunteers are people with a passion to see children experience Jesus on their level. Volunteers serve kids, birth through fifth grade, in safe, age–appropriate environments where the Bible is taught in creative and relevant ways. There are many opportunities to serve on Sundays and throughout the week as well as at our annual events (E.S.C.A.P.E, Easter Egg Hunt, Cove Country Fair). These volunteers can serve as teachers, room assistants, storytellers on Family Sunday and more!
The ConneXion Student Ministry
This ministry is for volunteers who have a heart to see High School and Middle School students grow and fall in love with Jesus daily.
These team members are involved with overall repair, maintenance and upkeep for indoor and outdoor premises of the campus. These volunteers include mowing and weedeating the property, care and maintenance of the playground and all the buildings on the property.
Care & Outreach
From prayer and encouragement to our pantry, clothing closet and our semi-annual Clothing Give-A-Ways, these teams serve people in need of a tangible show love and support. Pantry volunteers include stocking and bagging groceries, visiting with clients, carrying bags to vehicles. Clothing closet and Clothing Give-A-Way volunteers include sorting, folding and hanging of season-appropriate clothing, assisting clients in finding correct sizes. Give-A-Way also needs volunteers for set-up and clean-up of event.
Each year, we host several events to welcome in the community, like our Hunter Safety courses taught by TWRA-certified instructors, Turkey Shoots offering people the chance to compete for prizes in a time-honored tradition. Other times, we go out into the community. Our Saturday Morning Missions crews find projects from fixing porches to cutting & splitting firewood to cutting grass -- anything that helps a neighbor in need. Volunteers for Hunter Safety course need some training with firearms and hunting. Volunteers for Turkey Shoots and Saturday Morning Missions require no special training and include a variety of activities.
Creative & Technical Arts
Whether operating the sound board to troubleshooting computer issues, the Creative and Technical Arts teams use their skills in media production and technology to keep Church of the Cove on the cutting edge. Volunteers include the communications team (everything from announcements to printed material to website to Facebook), audio/visual, multimedia, worship band, and praise team.
